If you grew up in Britain, chances are you will have watched Coronation Street at some point. For many, the world’s longest running soap evokes memories of sitting around the telly with grandparents, but for others it’s a life-long commitment.
Over 64 years, it is inevitable that Corrie has evolved from the kitchen sink drama depicting the lives of working class folk in the north-west that its creator Tony Warren devised. But in recent years, the show’s fans have become disillusioned with an over-reliance on issues-based plots, a growing cast and block storytelling patterns.
