Warm weather NFL teams are on the clock!
Pro Football Hall of Famer and Colorado coach Deion Sanders has a very clear message to NFL teams with designs on selecting his son Shedeur, the Buffaloes’ star quarterback, in a future NFL draft.
During an appearance on Sirius XM’s Mad Dog Radio with Chris Russo, Sanders, while speaking about top 2024 QB prospect Caleb Williams’s familiarity with warm weather after playing college football at Oklahoma and USC, related the idea to his own son. He even declared that he doesn’t want Shedeur playing for a cold-weather team.
“Like, I don’t want my kid [Shedeur] going nowhere cold next year. He grew up in Texas. He played in Jackson [Miss.], played in Colorado. Season’s over before it gets cold in Colorado. I’m just thinking way ahead. I don’t want that for him,” Sanders said, per ProFootballTalk.

Noting the climates of Texas, Jackson, and Boulder, Colo., where the temperatures are warm during the fall months, Sanders drew a line in the sand with regard to his son’s options in 2025, eliminating numerous NFL landing spots for the Buffaloes’ signal caller.
Of course, a lot can change in a year, including Sanders’s draft stock. The Colorado QB skyrocketed up draft boards during the 2023 season, which saw him complete 69.3 percent of his passes for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and three interceptions in 11 games played.
Sanders could become a top pick in 2025, should he excel for the Buffaloes once again next season. Teams in position to select the Colorado QB will just have to hope their climate lines up with Sanders’s clear expectations—or simply ignore Coach Prime’s comments altogether if they want to draft his son.
