Derailment near Arizona-New Mexico border causes I-40 closure

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A train derailment has caused a closure, authorities said.

According to New Mexico State Police, east and westbound lanes on I-40 near milepost 8 are closed.

Authorities at BNSF Railway said a train derailed near Houck around 12:42 MT. No injuries were reported, and they are trying to clear the site. The cause of the derailment is under investigation.

Travelers are asked to avoid the area and find other routes.
