Ⅰ. Download the Lubuntu image file and Rufus installation file.

Ⅱ.Make Lubutu20.04 installation media

2-1. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on the computer that is connected to the internet. Ensure that the computer recognizes the USB flash drive and make a note of the assigned drive letter. Please note that this operation will erase all data on the USB flash drive, so it’s advisable to back up any important data beforehand.

2-2. Launch Rufus 3.2. In the “Device” dropdown menu, select the USB flash drive that you inserted. Then, click on the “Boot Selection” button and choose the “lubuntu-20.04 ISO image file”. Ensure that the “Partition scheme” is set to “GPT”. Verify that there are no errors and proceed by clicking on the “START” button.


2-3. A dialog box will prompt you with the option to select “Write in ISO Image mode (Recommended)”. Click “OK” to confirm this option, then click “OK” again to initiate the writing process. Wait for the write process to complete; you’ll see a green “READY” icon once it’s finished successfully. Click “CLOSE” to exit Rufus.

Ⅲ. Installation of Lubuntu 20.04

3-1. Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port of the system where you want to install Lubuntu. Press the power button to turn on the computer, then quickly press the F11 key to access the Boot menu. From the Boot menu, select the USB flash drive prefixed with “UEFI:” and press Enter to initiate the system installation wizard.

3-2. In the installation wizard, choose “Start Lubuntu” and double-click on “Install Lubuntu 20.04 LTS”. Follow the prompts to select your preferred language, region, and keyboard model. Click “Next” to proceed to the next step.

3-3. Select the storage device (hard disk) where you want to install Lubuntu. Choose the option to “Erase disk” and click “Next”. Set your desired username and password for the system, then click “Next”. Review the configuration to ensure accuracy, then click “Install” or “Install Now” to begin the installation process.

3-4. Wait for the installation to complete successfully. Once done, click “Done” and the computer will reboot automatically. After rebooting, remove the USB flash drive (installation media) and press Enter. You will then be able to enter the Lubuntu system. Enter your password to access the desktop environment.
