Escaped Rahova Prison Inmate Captured in Oradea

After half a day of searching, the criminal who escaped from an ambulance in Bucharest was caught. He managed to reach close to home, in Oradea. He was recognized on the street by a man who immediately called the police. The criminal was planning to flee Romania, that’s why he went to Oradea, to try to cross the border illegally.

On Wednesday morning, he was seen by a passerby who recognized him and called 112. Police officers were sent to the area and identified the escapee. He was taken to the Oradea penitentiary, where he will stay for a while, then he will be brought to Rahova where he was serving his 18-year sentence for the crime. Now he will also be charged with escape, which will bring him up to an additional three years in prison.

Meszaros Zsombor managed to escape from the escort on Tuesday afternoon. He had just come out of a clinic in the Obor area and was not handcuffed.

Dozens of Police filters were established at all exits from the Capital and in Ilfov county in search of the escapee, while the police were on alert in the neighboring counties.

The man had been sentenced to 18 years in prison for murder after brutally murdering his girlfriend. Meszaros Zsombor had been put under national investigation and recorded at the border.
