Federal trial against former New Mexico state representative accused of fraud set for June

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The federal trial against Sheryl Williams Stapleton is scheduled to begin in two months. She pled not guilty to 35 charges including conspiracy to defraud the United States and multiple counts of bribery and money laundering.


Albuquerque man admits to killing 2 people in 2021 crime spree

Prosecutors say she allocated federal funds intended for Albuquerque Public Schools programs to a company operated by Joseph Johnson. Williams Stapleton is accused of using more than $1 million of that money for her own use. That trial is scheduled to begin on June 10.
