This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to attracting talented specialists to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative technological solutions in modern retail, thus expanding its IT competencies for all nine countries where HORNBACH operates.
”The IT HUB in Romania represents an essential pillar in our strategy to internationalize technological aspects within the company. It will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of innovative technological projects for the entire Group”, stated Andreas Schobert, CTO and member of the Management Board of HORNBACH Baumarkt AG.
The choice of Romania for this project is primarily due to the presence of a large number of talented individuals with extensive skills in the IT field. Romania thus becomes a favorable environment for developing a team of technology enthusiasts eager to contribute to the international success of the company, with the opportunity to advance their careers within a strong European-level group.

Initially, the IT HUB will focus on projects related to the online store, with plans for subsequent expansion to address other key aspects of HORNBACH’s interconnected business model. The IT HUB team will be responsible not only for project development and implementation but also for the proactive expansion of services and the development of innovative ideas to enhance existing systems.
”The IT HUB is expected to grow rapidly in terms of the number of employees. Therefore, we anticipate that by year-end, the number of colleagues will reach a two-digit level, with particular emphasis on quality and cultural alignment”, said Andrei Arabolea, IT Lead of HORNBACH IT HUB Romania.
