Hundreds of Santa Fe city workers getting increased pay

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Just over 700 city employees in Santa Fe are getting pay increases this week. On average, they will receive an 8% increase, the city says.

The increases come from a relatively new compensation plan approved by the Santa Fe Governing Body in March. The plan includes increases for Police, Fire, and other non-union workers. The city says ongoing there are ongoing negotiations with additional unionized employees.

The overall goal for the increased pay is to recruit and retain employees. “We will continue to do our best to recognize our outstanding City employees and pay them for their hard work,” Mayor Alan Webber said in a press release. “We want to be the best employer and the employer of choice for everyone who wants to bring their skills and commitment to public service.”
