Kamal Haasan is set to make his theatrical comeback with the highly anticipated film Indian 2. For those unaware, Indian was released almost three decades ago, on May 9, 1996. Kamal Haasan‘s stellar performance in the film earned him several accolades, including the Best Actor Award at the Filmfare Awards and the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. Directed by S. Shankar, the film follows the story of a retired freedom fighter who takes a stand against corruption in India.
Now, with its sequel, Indian 2, director S. Shankar is all set to continue the legacy. Kamal Haasan reprises his iconic role as Senapathy, with support from a talented ensemble cast that includes Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, S. J. Indian 2 will release in July 2024
The makers officially announced Indian 2 in September 2017 but encountered significant delays due to unforeseen accidents involving some crew members. Subsequently, makers also faced production setbacks during the pandemic era. Despite these challenges, reports from 123telugu suggest that the film is now slated for release on July 18, 2024, owing to post-production delays. Earlier rumors had hinted at a theatrical debut on June 13, 2024. However, an official announcement regarding its release date is still pending.
In an earlier post, the lead actor shared the film’s first look, stating, “Gear up for the comeback of Senapathy! INDIAN 2 is all set to storm in cinemas this JUNE. Mark your calendar for the epic saga.” While this indicated a June release, the makers did not mention any specific date at that time.
