[1] More charges filed against Clovis double homicide, kidnapping suspect – Alek Collins, 26, is accused of killing Samantha ‘Harley’ Cisernos and Taryn Allen before kidnapping Cisneros’ 10-month-old baby. Police also found a 5-year-old at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators found Collins and the baby in Abilene, Texas Monday morning. According to court documents, Collins called the FBI last year saying if the feds did not help him find his daughter he was going to “murder a bunch of children.” Collins is charged with kidnapping and murder in New Mexico. He is currently being held in Abilene on other charges.

[2] Albuquerque police searching for twins accused of crimes – Twins, Daniel and Dominic Chavez-Montoya are accused of not only shoplifting from a handful of stores in southwest Albuquerque a few months ago, but also beating up the employees. Police say now Dominic is accused of stealing more than $2,400 in merchandise from a Lowe’s in northwest Albuquerque before going to another Lowe’s on Juan Tabo and unsuccessfully attempting to shoplift there. Police say they both have several felony warrants.

[3] Staying breezy with cooler temperatures – Wednesday will be another clear day, with clouds moving in during the evening. Winds will start out light, but they will pick up by midday. Temperatures will be cooler than yesterday in central and northern New Mexico, thanks to a cold front. Even cooler weather is expected each day through the weekend in eastern New Mexico

[4] Judge temporarily blocks Public Education Department’s 180-day rule – A New Mexico judge has granted a temporary restraining order preventing the state’s Public Education Department from enforcing a rule requiring a minimum of 180 school days. The restraining order means school districts that currently use the four-day calendar can continue to do so. Next Monday, the district judge will hear objections to the order.

[5] BioPark upgrades primate habitats – Primates at the Albuquerque BioPark are enjoying some newly improve habitats. The BioPark says they have upgraded the enclosures of their chimpanzees, orangutans and gorillas as part of a recent project. The habitats feature new structures for swinging, climbing and lounging.
