Man linked to March murder near restaurant, Albuquerque police say

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man has been linked to a third murder. Albuquerque Police Department (APD) said the crime happened in mid-March.

APD connected Gabriel Valenzuela-Greene, Jr. (also known as “Memphis”), to three murders. On March 16, he was charged for two killings in SE Albuquerque. He was also identified as a suspect in a third murder near a Twisters location after officials matched the casings to the same gun from the other shootings.

What happened on March 13?
Officers were called to a Twisters on Menaul Blvd. Donte Barnes, 31, was taken to the hospital but died. Detectives said Valenzuela-Greene approached the victim in the parking lot, and multiple shots were fired. The shooter ran away and fled west on Menaul Blvd.

“Multiple detectives and investigators were aided by ShotSpotter, the NIBIN ballistics tracing program, APD’s Digital Video Recovery Team, and Digital Intel Teams for quickly solving these murders.”

Valenzuela-Greene is a suspect in two kidnappings and one carjacking. He’s being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
