More moisture into the weekend

More moisture into the weekend

Winds were howling early this morning across the Albuquerque Metro, but have since subsided slightly. More rain is likely over northern/northeastern New Mexico this afternoon while much of the rain farther south will evaporate before reaching the ground.

The best chance for widespread wetting rain will be Saturday. Eastern, northern, and central parts of the state will be dealing with periods of showers and storms throughout the day, heaviest across the north/northeast thanks to upslope flow where over an inch of total precipitation is likely. Even Albuquerque will likely see a quarter of an inch of rain. The only part of the state that will remain dry is far southwest.

Drier and warmer weather will arrive starting Sunday. A few northern mountain snow flurries/rain showers are possible while the rest of the state sees plenty of sunshine. Drier and warmer weather will persist into early next week, before more rain chances arrive mid to late next week.
