New Mexico regulators go after money transferring company

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico regulators have ordered a money transferring company to cease operations. The New Mexico Financial Institutions Division says the company “can no longer responsibly serve customers due to its declining financial position.”

The company, Sigue Corp., failed to satisfy outstanding liabilities and failed to complete money orders, the New Mexico regulators say. That’s a violation of state law.

“The New Mexico Financial Institutions Division is pleased to join other state regulators to ensure consumers and their funds are protected, regardless of location,” Financial Institutions Division Director Mark Sadowski said in a press release. “As investigations into Sigue continue, New Mexico will explore additional actions that best serve all customers.”

Multiple states around the U.S. have issued a consent order against the company. Now, those states will work to try to make customers whole if they have lost money due to Sigue’s issues. If you think you’ve been impacted, you can call 505-476-4885.
