New Mexico representatives hold roundtable to discuss homelessness

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – As the Supreme Court hears a case on homelessness, two New Mexico representatives hosted a roundtable on Tuesday to discuss how to help solve the problem. Representatives Gabe Vasquez and Melanie Stansbury hosted the roundtable in southeast Albuquerque.


New Mexico preparing for Supreme Court ruling on homeless camping in public spaces

They announced $16 million in federal funding for 16 programs that provide housing assistance and services to homeless people. “This funding will make a real impact in the lives of New Mexicans. Every dollar of this investment takes us one step closer to ending homelessness. the homelessness and the crisis that has affected our communities for far too long,” said Rep. Vasquez.

According to Rep. Stansbury, 20,000 people across New Mexico experienced homelessness in the last year but she believes that estimate is an undercount.
