ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services held a rededication ceremony Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery in Albuquerque.
The cemetery opened in 1881 and remained in use until the early 2000’s. The ceremony commemorated the completion of a major restoration of veterans gravesites at the cemetery. The are approximately 500 veterans believed to be buried at the cemetery. Headstones were cleaned and aligned to national and state veterans cemetery standards.
