One person injured in Naperville shooting Tuesday that put schools into lockdown

Naperville police are investigating what they believe was a targeted shooting Tuesday that left one person hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The incident took place about 1:30 p.m. at a residence in the 2500 block of Leach Drive, near Plainfield-Naperville Road and 87th Street, according to Naperville police Cmdr. Rick Krakow.

The suspects fled on foot, prompting six nearby schools to be placed on lockdown and about 300 area residents being told to shelter in place, Krakow said.
