Pedestrian hit while Albuquerque Police Department pursues carjacking suspect

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A carjacking suspect has been taken into custody, and a pedestrian was hospitalized on Monday, the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) said.

APD said there was an armed carjacking reported at 8100 San Joaquin Avenue around 2 p.m. The suspect wasn’t able to steal the first vehicle but ended up taking someone else’s.

Officers responded and began to look for the suspect. The vehicle was located and a pursuit took place. During the pursuit, an officer hit a pedestrian. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.


Reward increases for answers about 18-year-old’s 2020 death

The suspect was taken into custody near San Mateo Blvd and Haines Blvd.

Authorities are investigating.
