Santa Fe Public Library calling for local artists as part of the “Big Read”

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The public library is hosting an art show and contest as part of the National Endowment for the Arts “Big Read” program. Local artists can submit visual media, and the deadline to do so is May 4.

The art needs to be inspired by books selected as part of the library’s “Big Read” program, such as “Circle” by Madeline Miller. More information on the reading selection can be found at this link. Themes include the hero’s journey, finding one’s power, female strength, Greek mythology, and others, the library says.


New Mexico forests show some improvements, a new report reveals

Visual art submissions can be of any size, with a maximum of two entries per participant. The work will be exhibited at the downtown branch library and must be appropriate for all ages. Submission info can be found at this link.

Prizes will be awarded for art in several age categories. That includes: Toddlers ages 0-4, Children ages 5-8, Youth ages 9-12, Teens ages 3-17, and Adults ages 18-plus.
