Savannah Bananas come to Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – They’re a baseball team known for their dance moves and shenanigans. The Savannah Bananas, for the first time ever, are taking to the field in Albuquerque.

The gates opened on Saturday evening, and people trickled in to find their seats.

“I’m excited to see the players walk up to bat because I’ve seen some of their clips and like instead of just a walk-up song, they have like a whole performance sometimes, so I’m excited to see the different players as they walk up,” said Savannah Aragon-Montoya, a fan attending the game Saturday.

The Savannah Bananas are probably the goofiest and most entertaining baseball team and have built a large fan base and social media following with some TikTok videos gaining millions of views.

“It’s like a great game,” said Conner Shires, another fan attending the event. “They’re playing baseball, but they’re having fun, and they’re making it a lot more interesting. It’s great to watch.”

Instead of playing regular baseball, the teams play a style called “Banana Ball,” which the team says is the fastest and most entertaining game of baseball.

Tickets went on sale in December, and a total of 13,500 tickets were sold.
