The upcoming romantic C-drama Smile Code will soon meet viewers with its unique storyline. It is an adaptation of Zu Le’s novel “Lost Laughter”. The drama features popular actors Lin Yi and Shen Yue in the lead roles.
It tells the story of Gu Yi (Shen Yue), a talk show actress. She meets Liang Dai Wen (Lin Yi), an audience member suffering from alexithymia. The disease makes it difficult for him to showcase verbal expressions and causes him to mistake emotions for sensations.
Although Dai Wen appears distant and cold at first, eventually, they get close. The duo slowly heal each other and become each other’s support system. They have contrasting characteristics. While Gu Yi is bubbly and charming, Dai Wen doesn’t know how to laugh and appears distressed. But they connect as they struggle to live in the city of Shanghai. As two youths in a big city, they have more in common than they think.

The theme of the drama is quite optimistic and simple. It will surely pull at the viewers’ heartstrings. As Dai Wen and Gu Yi continue to humorously ridicule each other, they end up falling in love.

Other than the lead actors, Smile Code will also feature Ye Xiao Wei, Ophelia Yang, Han Ye, Zuo Xiao Long, Zheng Yu Jia, Zhang Tian Ai, Fang Zi Bin, Tang Xu, Luo Yan, Zhang Cheng He, Yang Yu Ting, Yan Qin, Lu Xin etc., in pivotal roles. Zou Ting Wei will also appear as a guest in the drama. Randy Che is the director of the drama.
Smile Code will release a total of 24 episodes, which will be available to stream on Tencent Video.
