Taylor Swift's Dad Won't Face Charges For Allegedly Assaulting Aussie Paparazzi Photographer

Taylor Swift’s dad, Scott Swift, won’t face charges for allegedly punching an Australian paparazzi photographer in the face, police have confirmed.

NT News reports that the North Shore Police Area Command officers investigated the alleged incident and determined that no further action would be required. According to a statement via RTE, the police “conducted an investigation following a report of an assault,” and “no further police action” will be taken.

Last month, it was reported that police were investigating Scott Swift for the alleged assault of a paparazzi photographer in Sydney.

Paparazzi photographer Ben McDonald from Matrix Media kept track of Taylor Swift while she was in Australia.

In a statement, McDonald claimed that after Taylor’s final show in Sydney on 26 February, she celebrated the Eras Tour‘s Australian leg with a cruise on Sydney Harbour before she and her entourage left Neutral Bay Wharf early that morning.

Swift was leaving, and her security personnel pushed umbrellas into paparazzi photographers’ cameras, including McDonald’s. It was then that Scott Swift allegedly punched McDonald.

McDonald claimed, “He’s charged in and punched me in the face”. When the alleged incident occurred, Taylor Swift was reportedly already in a car following the celebrations.

McDonald’s injuries weren’t too serious, and he “did not require medical treatment”, according to NSW Police.

A spokesperson for NSW Police told the ABC at the time: “Police have been told a 71-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old man at Neutral Bay Wharf about 2:30 am, before leaving the location.

“The younger man reported the incident and inquiries are now underway by officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command.”

Representatives for Taylor Swift said about the incident in a statement (via Rolling Stone), “Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.”

In another Taylor Swift news story, the Love Story singer gave G Flip a “cheeky invite” to her Eras tour date in Melbourne after watching their Like A Version of Cruel Summer.

G Flip described the moment she found out about the cheeky invite as “the best day… I woke up and cried of happiness.”
