Asirom and Omniasig, subsidiaries of the Vienna Insurance Group (Austria), have entered a bidding process organized by the National Institute for Research and Development in Physics and Nuclear Engineering “Horia Hulubei” for providing insurance services including RCA, CASCO, material damages, as well as third-party liability and liability towards their own employees. The prospective insurance contract is set to span four years and has been valued at 11.1 million lei.

The Physics and Nuclear Engineering Institute is the one developing the Laser from Magurele.

The contracting authority set the limit of civil liability towards third parties and towards its own employees at 1 million euros. In the case of material damages, compensation will not exceed the threshold of 5 million euros.

Based in the city of Măgurele (Ilfov), the “Horia Hulubei” National Research and Development Institute for Nuclear Physics and Engineering was established in 1949. In 2020, the Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics International Research Center became operational within the institute ( ELI-NP), which performs experiments to study the interaction of high-power laser pulses with matter.
