Here are some events happening from April 12 to 18 in the Chicago suburbs and Northwest Indiana.

Film fest

The AfterImage Film Festival is at 5-9 p.m. April 12, 1:30-9:30 p.m. April 13 and 1-5 p.m. April 14 at the Charlestowne 18 Cinema in St. Charles. Tickets are $13. At 3740 E. Main St. 630-443-4378; afterimagefilmfestival.com.

The fourth edition of the film fest will feature more than 20 films; including the Illinois premiere of “Wildcat,” directed by Ethan Hawke and starring Maya Hawke, at 5:30 p.m. April 13; as well as two screenings of “Indigo Girls: It’s Only Life After All” at 3:45 p.m. April 13 and 2:30 p.m. April 14.

Cool ‘Cat’

Bobcat Goldthwait performs at 7 and 9:30 p.m. April 12-13 at the Comedy Vault in Batavia. Tickets are $25. At 18 E. Wilson St. 630-454-4174; comedyvaultbatavia.com.

Comedian and actor Bobcat Goldthwait has starred in numerous television specials, toured as an opening act for the band Nirvana, starred in “Scrooged” with Bill Murray and as Zed in the “Police Academy” franchise. He has gone on to director for TV, films and documentaries.

Golden dancers

Free dance classes for those over age 50 are from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 14 at the North Shore School of Dance in Highland Park. Tickets are free. At 505 Laurel Ave. 847-512-7176; time-to-dance.org.

Time to Dance, an entity dedicated to enriching the health and quality of life for adults over age 50 through dance, is offering free 20-minute classes in ballet, modern, tap and dance fitness. All levels of dance experience are welcome.

Funny man in Gary

Comedian Anthony Jeselnik performs at 7 p.m. April 18 at the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana’s Hard Rock Live venue in Gary. Tickets are $49-$94. At 5400 W. 29th Ave. 219-228-2383; hardrockcasinonorthernindiana.com.

Anthony Jeselnik is a stand-up comedian known for his Netflix specials, his podcast and Comedy Central roasts. Jeselnik was the creator, host and producer of his series, “Good Talk” and “The Jeselnik Offensive” on Comedy Central. He brings his “Bones and All” tour to Gary.

Country music legend

Marty Stuart and his Superlatives take the stage at 7:30 p.m. April 18 at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet. Tickets are $34.50-$59.50. 815-726-6600; rialtosquare.com.

Marty Stuart is a country and bluegrass music singer, songwriter and musician. He’s a Country Music Hall of Famer, five-time Grammy-winner and AMA Lifetime Achievement honoree. He got his start in bluegrass legend Lester Flatts’ band at 13 and by 21, he was working in the studio and on the road with Johnny Cash.
