Bleecker Street has officially unveiled the trailer for Treasure, an upcoming road trip dramedy about a father and daughter’s journey to Poland, albeit with different agendas. The film, set to hit theaters on June 14, stars Lena Dunham as Ruth and Stephen Fry as Edek.

Directed and written by Julia von Heinz, Treasure — adapted from Lily Brett’s Too Many Men novel — centers on music journalist Ruth Rothwax, who embarks on a road trip to Poland with her father Edek, a Holocaust survivor, in hopes of gaining a deeper understanding of her family’s past. However, Ruth’s father had a different plan in mind.

The official synopsis for Treasure reads as follows: “A father-daughter road trip set in 1990s Poland, [Treasure] follows Ruth, an American music journalist, and her father, Edek, a charmingly stubborn Holocaust survivor, on a journey to his homeland. While Ruth is eager to make sense of her family’s past, Edek embarks on the trip with his own agenda. This emotional, funny culture clash of two New Yorkers exploring post-socialist Poland is a powerful example of how reconnecting with family and the past can be an unexpected treasure.”

The dramedy had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival and is set to grace the Tribeca Festival starting June 8. You can watch the trailer below (watch more trailers):

Who’s behind Treasure?

In addition to starring, Dunham also served as one of the film’s producers alongside Fabian Gasmia and director von Heinz. Co-producers include Thomas Jaeger, Antoine Delahousse, and Marius Wtodarski.

The upcoming film is said to be the third and final installment in the director’s “Aftermath” trilogy, a film series that explores the effects of the Holocaust.

“When pain and abuse befalls a generation (whether in a mass tragedy or within nuclear families), the results ripple and ricochet in ways more powerful than we could ever understand,” Dunham said in a statement. “This film is about the many ways Ruth is still trapped in the pain that her father can never release. For us to live in a world that we would want to leave to our grandchildren, our actions – today – matter. By looking back at our pasts to understand the evils of history, we can avoid repeating them ad infinitum, while also healing each other. That was the message I took from the script, and I’m still processing that message.”
