The Romanian Television Society (TVR) wants to launch an application for mobile phones and smart TVs for video streaming for every TV station. Users will be able to access video content both live and recorded, and the platform will also display advertisements.
Until April 25, the Romanian Television Society is waiting for proposals from the market for “making an application for the following: Web App browser, Smart TV and mobile phones as follows: iOS mobile app, Android mobile app., Apple TV app, Android TV, LG Smart TV app, WebOS, Samsung Smart TV Tizen OS app, Vidaa OS for smart TV”.
Currently, Romanian Television has a platform for live content and watching recorded shows. The first video portal (tvrplus.ro) was launched in 2012 and can also be accessed from mobile and tablet applications. TVR also owns the “Exclusive TVR+” stream, which plays special broadcasts from major political, cultural, artistic events, from important meetings and large-scale conferences, as well as exclusive sports competitions, together with footage from special projects TVR brand.
The new application will present the three main types of content, namely the live transmission of TV stations, specialized channels and VOD – “Video on Demand”.
TVR wants the application to generate automatic reports on the number of videos available, total minutes uploaded, total embed codes delivered to applications, total minutes of video content delivered, total number of advertising moments delivered – for the configurable time period.
Also, the application must allow the generation of a complete report that contains all the information related to consumption at the level of individual viewing with the following data: video material viewed, date and time of viewing start, viewing duration in seconds, viewing percentage of the total duration, a unique identifier of the session to be viewed, the website or the application within which the viewing was carried out.
“The video management platform will benefit from a playout section for an unlimited number of thematic channels that will broadcast live. The playout will be made based on a playlist created on different criteria. The video playout system will allow the insertion of advertising from the application’s ad server. The video player will have options to select the sound track and the subtitle. The option will be activated automatically through the settings made by the user when creating the account, but he will also permanently have the option to choose other sound tracks or subtitles”, says an announcement posted on SEAP.
At the same time, each customer is given the opportunity to create profiles, and by default there will be a profile for minor children. The account can be created based on email and password, and afterwards the user must confirm the email address to be able to use the account and have access to the content.
The account holder will be able to create an unlimited number of profiles. According to the announcement, once authenticated within the application, the client will receive content recommendations based on previously viewed content, will be able to continue watching materials started but not completed in previous sessions and will be able to mark their favorite shows to be notified when new content appears.
