Warm temperatures through the weekend, but high winds return

Friday morning is off to a cool, clear and calm start. Friday will be a warmer day, with mostly sunny skies in the morning, and partly sunny skies during the afternoon and evening. Winds will turn on this afternoon, and we will see 30 to 40 mph wind gusts across the state. The middle Rio Grande Valley, east-central and northeast NM will be under Red Flag Warnings for high fire danger today.

The winds will die down, but stay breezy on Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will be warm all weekend, reaching the 70s and 80s. Skies will be mostly sunny all weekend. The next storm will bring high winds again on Monday, with greater than 50 mph gusts expected. Rain and light mountain snow will be possible in the northwest half of the state, and temperatures will cool down.
