FaZe Clan has decided to restructure its business, following the merger of Gamesquare and Richard Banks becoming the CEO. As a part of bringing changes to the business, the renowned company has laid off and kicked a few members, leaving some fans shocked. What happened to FaZe Clan in 2024?
In the latest merger with Gamesquare, FaZe Clan’s new CEO, Banks, made a decision to restructure the organization, which led to the removal of certain employees, creators, and eSports players.
The aim is to return to FaZe Clan’s original era, where the focus was more on eSports, which initially helped them build their audience. This huge decision stirred debates and disappointment among fans, who were shocked to see long contributors getting kicked.

FaZe Clan is undergoing a strict round of layoffs wherein renowned members, including Santana and Kalei, have been chopped off from the roster. This isn’t the first time the renowned company has let go of its talented members, as previously, in 2023, 40% of the workforce was let go due to uncertainty in the eSports industry. While this might be shocking news to many, Blaze, who also got removed in the lay-off process, revealed that he already knew that he might be let go from the company. Although he was saddened by the news, he took it in a positive way and also received the “best news” of his brand, Charged, signing a deal with Walmart.
While the other members have shared their concerns regarding the decision, the now CEO elaborated his decision more clearly on X (formerly Twitter). He mentioned, ” I promise the only reason you were let go is because a genuine relationship couldn’t really ever have been formed.” Further, he explained that he wanted to bring the company out of the “corporate bucket” and take it back to its original state.
