aespa announce first studio album, ‘Armageddon’

K-pop girl group aespa have dropped the first trailer for their upcoming first studio album, ‘Armageddon’ – watch it below.

Released on April 22, the half-minute clip features a wide shot of what appears to be a mysterious crop circle of an unknown symbol etched onto the earth. Meanwhile, the video’s description reveals that ‘Armageddon’ is the official title of aespa’s next album, due out on May 27 at 6pm KST.

The record will reportedly feature 10 tracks, ranging from “energetic hip-hop to bright and cheerful dance scores, rhythmical modern pop and ballad songs”, according to SM Entertainment per Korea JoongAng Daily.

aespa are set to release a pre-release single called ‘Supernova’ in the lead-up to ‘Armageddon’, per Newsen. The new track will reportedly be released on May 13 at 6pm KST.

SM Entertainment have also described ‘Armageddon’ as an album “filled with aespa’s deeper musical world and message” and also includes “the narrative of the second season of aespa’s worldview that expands into the multiverse, beyond the real and digital worlds”.

 

aespa’s last release was the mini-album ‘Drama’ in November 2023, headlined by a lead single of the same name. That project also included B-the songs ‘Trick or Trick’, ‘Don’t Blink’, ‘Hot Air Balloon’ and more, as well as their previously released English single ‘Better Things’.

In other news, K-pop girl group Cherry Bullet have disbanded, their label FNC Entertainment has announced. Additionally, four of the group’s members have opted to part ways with the company, while the remaining members will continue to work under the label for solo projects.
