According to APD Police Chief, Harold Medina, officers located a man and a woman inside a stolen vehicle at the post office in the area of Candelaria and Eubank. The woman, identified as Mariah Voigt, fled into a nearby neighborhood. Police say there was an hours long search for Voigt, until a K9 located her in a shed in a backyard near Mesa Arriba Ave. and Betts St.

According to Chief Medina, Voigt she pulled out what officers thought was a gun as she peered out of the shed and held it out as if it was a firearm. At least one officer fired at her hitting her. Voigt was taken to the hospital where she died. A gun was not found on scene. The man was released from the scene and not charged with a crime.
