În cadrul așa-numitei alerte violete, cea mai gravă din Franța, chiar și serviciile de urgență de pe insulă – situată în Oceanul Indian, la est de Madagascar – nu au voie să părăsească bazele lor începând cu ora 6 dimineața (0200 GMT).
Pe rețelele de socializare, utilizatorii au postat luni dimineață primele înregistrări video cu vânturi puternice și precipitații, în timp ce pagubele reale provocate de ciclonul care a lovit țărmurile insulei nu erau imediat clare.
Potrivit Meteo France, se așteaptă ca furtuna să atingă apogeul luni, cu viteze de aproximativ 200 de kilometri pe oră la altitudini joase și de 250 km/h în zonele locuite situate mai sus pe insulă. De asemenea, sunt așteptate valuri ciclonice ale mării de până la 12-15 metri (39-49 de picioare).
Premierul Gabriel Attal și ministrul de interne Gérald Darmanin au participat duminică la o celulă de criză din Paris pentru a urmări situația cu care se confruntă insula.
