Amy Shark Announces Third Studio Album 'Sunday Sadness'

Australian household name Amy Shark will release her third studio album, Sunday Sadness, this year. The album is set to arrive on Friday, 16 August. The album marks three years since Shark’s last work.

The artist announced the new project today (Friday 26th) via a pasta-fuelled clip on her socials.

Shark shared with The Music her inspiration for the album:

“I specifically wrote this album on Sundays, constantly daydreaming about the happiest moments and the worst, remembering the best people while still getting over others. I am different on Sundays. I am not sure why, but I bet you are, too,” she said.

“I think about my life so much on Sundays, my family, my friends and probably you. I’m still learning people, I’m still trying to be a better person, Sunday Sadness has every emotion I feel, you’ll smile in some songs and feel the love – but you’ll also be sad and probably not sleep well this Sunday night”.

“This album is sick. Best I’ve ever done,” she wrote alongside the Instagram announcement.

While Amy Shark has performed under different monikers in the past, her debut album under the Amy Shark name was the acclaimed Love Monster, released back in 2018. Her debut album featured the hit songs Adore and I Said Hi, launching Shark into the big leagues of Australian music. Love Monster peaked at #1 in the ARIA charts and was certified platinum.

Shark’s sophomore album, Cry Forever, followed the same course and also hit the top spot in the ARIA charts. Her second album, released in 2021, featured artists such as Keith Urban and Blink-182 member Travis Barker.

If the announcement of a third album wasn’t enough, Shark has also paired the announcement with a new single from the project. Loving Me Lover was released this morning, with Shark’s TikTok teaser reaching 10k views within the first minute of its release.

Loving Me Lover is the third single to be released from the new album, with Gold-accredited tracks Can I Shower At Yours and Beautiful Eyes also sharing some insight into what Shark’s highly anticipated project will contain.

Stay tuned for the release of Sunday Sadness on August 16th – there are just 16 more Sundays to go.
