Bernalillo County looking for art to decorate community center

BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – The county is looking for artists to submit ideas for a public art piece to enhance the Westside Community Center. The deadline to submit an application is June 14.

“The art should represent the cultures, peoples, heritage, and/or landscapes of the South Valley,” the county said in a press release. “The artwork may be integrated into the shade structure, or located on the concrete areas near the stage, but should enhance the performance space during the day and at night, and when there are no performances being held.”

The county has a $40,000 budget for the project. Submissions must include at least three images. You can also submit a video. More information about submissions can be found at this link.

The art will support the expansion of the community center located at 1250 Isleta Blvd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105. The center was recently expanded to include an outdoor stage, new playground, and extended walking trail, the county says. Installation of the chosen art will happen by summer of 2025.
