Ahead of Bridgerton‘s highly-anticipated return on May 16, showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed that they already know who will be the next leading couple in Season 4, who will succeed Colin and Penelope’s love story.
Speaking with TV Insider, Brownell teased fans to watch out for clues in the Season 3 finale, which will point out who among the remaining Bridgerton children, including Benedict, Eloise and Francesca, would find romance in the next installment.
“I won’t give you anything, but I do think that there are some clues at the end of Season 3 of where we’re headed. So yeah, I leave that to fans to pick apart, but I think we’re tipping our hand just a little bit,” she said.
What is Bridgerton Season 3 about?
“The next installment finds Penelope Featherington has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters,” reads the official synopsis. “But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger.”
Based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling novel series, Bridgerton is executive produced by Shonda Rhimes and showrunner Jess Brownell. It stars Nicola Coughlan, Luke Newton, Golda Rosheuvel, Jonathan Bailey, Claudia Jessie, Ruby Barker, Sabrina Bartlett, Ruth Gemmell, Adjoa Andoh, Polly Walker, Bessie Carter, Simone Ashley, and Harriet Cains, with Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown. Season 3 will also feature new cast members Daniel Francis as Marcus Anderson, Sam Phillips as Lord Debling, and James Phoon as Harry Dankworth.
