City of Albuquerque plants trees for Arbor Day

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department was out celebrating Arbor Day on Friday. Workers planted eight trees near Civic Plaza and gave away 50 more trees to downtown residents.


Albuquerque will collect grass clippings, green waste for free

This is part of an effort by the city to bring more trees to the heart of the city. Director David Simons says the department is making great progress on a goal they set three years ago. We are making great progress on this campaign We are on schedule, and I think we may even be ahead of schedule to reach our 100,000 tree goal by 2030,” said Simon.

Albuquerque has received a $5 million grant from the federal government to go toward planting more trees in neighborhoods around the city.
