Cloudier and stormier weekend around New Mexico

Friday morning is cloudy and foggy in the east plains and northeast highlands. The fog will clear by around 10 AM, and the clouds will clear by around noon. Skies will be mostly sunny across the state today, but clouds will pop up during the afternoon. A few showers and thunderstorms will be possible in the northeast highlands this afternoon and evening, one of which could be strong or severe, with gusty winds and small hail. Temperatures will stay warm statewide, and the winds will be light at around 15 to 30 mph.

On Saturday, more clouds will move into the state, keeping skies partly cloudy. Thunderstorms will develop in southeast and east-central NM during the afternoon. A few could become severe as they move east toward Texas. Storms could bring large hail and damaging wind gusts. The tornado threat is low. The storms will mostly clear by around 8 PM, but the severe threat will be completely over by around 10 PM.

Sunday will be a partly cloudy, warm and breezy day. Winds will pick up to around 30-45 mph across the state. Showers will move into the Four Corners during the evening and overnight.
