Cubs vs. Mets prediction

Southpaw Shota Imanaga gets the nob for Chicago on Wednesday, looking to continue his recent domination. Imanaga is 4-0 in five starts, while allowing one earned run or fewer in four of those outings.

In his last appearance, Imanaga posted his longest outing by tossing 6.1 innings and recording seven strikeouts in a 7-1 blowout of the Red Sox.

Countering for the Mets is Jose Butto, who is seeking consecutive victories for the first time since April 19 and 20.

Butto is coming off his first loss in four starts this season in a 4-2 setback to the Cardinals.

The right-hander yielded a season-high four runs and two homers; he entered the game having given up only three runs in his first three starts.

The Mets have won four consecutive home Game 3s, but all those victories were in series finales; this four-game set will conclude on Thursday.

Cubs vs. Mets pick

The Cubs are 8-2 in their last 10 games off a loss and Imanaga has been terrific through five starts.

However, Butto is listed as a home underdog for the first time in four tries this season and the Mets are 4-0 in their last four games against left-handed starting pitchers.

There are plenty of good trends each way but look for the Mets to finally hand Imanaga his first loss tonight.
