The year 2024 so far has not been successful for Tamil cinema. So far, several major releases, including Dhanush’s Captain Miller and Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam, witnessed average box office collection. However, a better performance is expected from the upcoming movie Raayan.
Besides playing the lead role in the movie, Dhanush has also donned the director’s hat for Raayan. Major details about the project are kept under wraps, but rumors about it have been swirling around for a while now. The latest report claims that the filmmakers are aiming for a June release.
Dhanush’s Raayan to release in June?
A report by Pinkvilla has revealed that Dhanush’s Raayan might hit the silver screens in about a month. A source close to the development told the publication that the movie is expected to be released on June 13. The report came after the alleged delay in Kamal Haasan’s anticipated film Indian 2.
If the report is believed, Dhanush’s Raayan will be out on the big screens without any significant contender. Unlike his previous film, Captain Miller, which faced competition from Sivakarthikeyan’s Ayalaan, Raayan might benefit from its alleged solo release in the next month.
Raayan also stars SJ Suryah, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. The movie marks the second directorial venture for Dhanush. AR Rahman is composing the music, while Sun Pictures is bankrolling it.
On the work front, Dhanush has several projects in his kitty. The Tamil star is rigorously working on Kubera, which is helmed by Sekhar Kammula. It also stars Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna in crucial roles. On the other hand, he will be seen stepping in the shoes of legendary musical maestro Ilaiyaraaja for his biopic. Arun Matheswaran will be directing the film with star-studded cameos.
