Four East Dundee businesses cited for serving alcohol to minors

Staff at four East Dundee establishments were cited last month for serving alcohol to minors during Illinois State Police alcohol countermeasure enforcement patrols.

Those found in violation were Trevor D. Boesche at Bonnie Dundee Golf Club, 270 Kennedy Drive; Reid G.S. Hawkins at DC Cobb’s, 311 Barrington Ave.; Christine Crafton-Fekete at Diamond Jim’s, 325 Meier St.; and Brad H. Andersen at Calendo’s Corner, 302 N. River St., according to a state police news release.

East Dundee police said the patrols took place the night of Thursday, March 28. Those cited are scheduled for an administrative hearing at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at the East Dundee Police Department.

Elgin Police Department ‘Walk and Talk’ summer schedule set

The Elgin Police Department recently released the schedule for its summer “Walk and Talk” program.

The initiative provides an opportunity for people to meet officers and discuss any concerns they might have about life in their neighborhoods, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

The first walk is set for 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, starting from the intersection of Airlite Street and Lin Lor Lane. The others will be held at different times, days of the week and locations through mid-July.

‘Hollywood Revisited’ revue being staged at ECC Arts Center

The musical revue “Hollywood Revisited” will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Elgin Community College’s Blizzard Theater in Building H at 1700 Spartan Drive.

The show features movie music from the 1930s through the 1960s and costumes worn by the stars in the original Hollywood films from which the songs are taken, according to the ECC Arts Center website.

“Set to the music that defined the times, this show will leave you in awe as you learn about and come close enough to touch these historic, original pieces of old-time Hollywood,” the site said.

Elgin Earth Summit being held April 20 at Schock Centre Saturday

An Elgin Earth Summit will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in the Heritage Ballroom at the Edward Schock Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way.

Described on the city’s website as a “fun, relaxed community event for residents and local/regional community members to meet with local organizations, that represent a variety of sustainability topics,” participants will learn about local and regional climate action planning and how to get involved.

Three speakers are scheduled to talk between 10 a.m. and noon. Attendees can enter a drawing to win a free EV bicycle.

Other Earth Month events in Elgin include:

6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10: A Community Walk through downtown Elgin being held by the Elgin Community Bikes group will start at Festival Park. “Plan on walking for a mile or two throughout the neighborhood, taking some breaks along the way to talk about the way the streets are built and how it impacts our safety and comfort,” the website said. 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 13: The Elgin Public Museum is offering a self-guided tour of stations that discuss a variety of sustainability topics, including water and air pollution, owl pellets, climate change effect on weather, biodiversity, trees and endangered species.
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13: An Earth Day celebration will be held at Hawthorne Hill Nature Center in Elgin. The program will look at such things as the power of composting, recycling and conservation. “This interactive event is designed to empower both children and adults to make a positive impact on our planet,” the site said.
