FEMA hosting hiring fairs for claims office staff

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is hosting two hiring fairs to bring full-time staff onboard. The job openings are for claims office staff at the Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon claims office.

There will be two hiring fairs. One on April 29 at 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The second will be on May 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Both events will be at the second floor of the Santa Fe Higher Education Center at 1950 Siringo Road, Santa Fe, NM 87505.

Ahead of the hiring fairs, there is an opportunity to join online resume-writing workshops. These workshops will be on April 18 and April 25 at 5:30 p.m. Mountain and will help participants understand proper formatting for federal resumes. You can register for a resume workshop at this Zoom link.

“We are looking for individuals who are passionate about helping others and making a meaningful impact in their communities,” Jennifer Carbajal, deputy director of the FEMA Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon claims office, said in a press release. “This is an opportunity to play a vital role in getting much-needed compensation into the hands of those affected by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire.”

Full-time employees can receive benefits like earning eligibility for public service student loan forgiveness, health insurance, paid leave, and retirement plans. Hiring managers will be on-site at the hiring fairs to take resumes and conduct interviews. They are lookin for “individuals who can represent the Claims Office with compassion, fairness, integrity and respect. Ideal candidates will have customer service experience; strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; and experience completing high-quality products within assigned time frames.”

Open positions include Claims Navigators, Program and Data Analysts, Public Affairs Specialists, Supervisory Program Analysts and Attorney Advisors, FEMA says. Those positions would be based out of the Santa Fe claims office.
