Gary Police looking for suspect in robbery, shooting

Gary Police are looking for a man who may have shot and robbed a second man Wednesday morning.

Gary Police spokesman Cmdr. Sam Roberts said in a release that officers were sent at around 11:24 a.m. April 17th to the 2300 of Broadway for a shooting victim. Witnesses at the scene told police they assisted a man who’d been shot and robbed; the victim, a 26-year-old Gary man, was taken to Methodist Hospital’s Northlake campus for a gunshot wound to the leg, he said.

The victim told police at the hospital he’d gotten into an altercation with a man wearing a black hoodie and sweatpants who accused the victim of stealing money from him, Roberts said.

The victim said he left the area and sat behind a business in the 2300 block of Broadway when the man with whom he argued approached, shot and robbed him.

If anyone has information about this incident, call Detective J. Suttles at (219) 881-1210.
