It’s a windy day in New Mexico. Southern and eastern New Mexico will see the strongest winds, of 60 to 70 mph. The Metro and and middle Rio Grande Valley will see winds of 40 to 50 mph, and the Four Corners will see the lightest winds, up to around 30 to 40 mph.

Red flag warnings will be in effect all day, as there will be high fire danger in the Rio Grande Valley, southern and all of eastern New Mexico. Wildfires can ignite and spread rapidly today, and there is a threat of dust storms in southern New Mexico. Wind damage will be possible, along with power outages and dust storms. There is a blowing dust advisory for southern NM until 5 PM. Blowing dust may cause low to no visibility on the roadways.
Scattered rain showers and light mountain snow showers will be possible in the Four Corners and northern mountains this afternoon through tonight. Temperatures will be cooling today, by around 5 to 15 degrees, compared to Sunday.
