HISTORY Channel Romania, part of A+E Networks EMEA, announces a new six-episode docu-reality series, entitled “Treasure Hunters: Romania”. The premiere will take place on Tuesday, May 14, from 21:00, on HISTORY Channel Romania.

A team of four antique dealers/antiques, consisting of Liviu Andrei, Dan Greere, Ștefana Micu and Gabi Badea, has 48 hours to satisfy the request of a very important client. In each episode, the “hunters” scour flea markets, personal collections, and call sellers into their store, hoping to find the most interesting and profitable items to match their customer’s demand. They strategize, negotiate, make purchases risky, all with the hope that they will come across a real treasure that they can take to the bank.

“Treasure Hunters: Romania” focuses on objects of historical significance, collectibles and high transactional value from a wide variety of fields. From art objects owned by the Royal Family to memorabilia from the communist era, the docu-reality series “Treasure Hunters” will tell the history of Romania through the story of valuable objects.

“We are happy to present a new local production in Romania, as HISTORY Channel maintains its prestigious position as a leader among factual television for the 11th consecutive year, also remaining in the top 15 in the top of television in Romania. After two productions focused on the history and mysteries of Romania, this time we decided to develop a format focused on entertainment, but which is still centered on history. With every production we prepare, we want to show the public and business partners that the Romanian market is very important to us, with the intention of investing even more in local productions,” said Karol Bek, Senior Commercial Director & Country Manager for Romania, A+E Networks CEE.

“The joy of discovering a valuable object in an old box in the attic, the excitement of finding a treasure at a flea market, the adrenaline of an intense negotiation or the anxiety of a risky purchase are just some of the real situations that the show captures. It is not a documentary in itself, but a reality show that presents stories and histories about Romania”, declares the producer of the series, Agnieszka Kubiak, Head of Content Development and Creative at A+E Networks CEE.

We are very happy to produce the first show for HISTORY Channel – «Treasure Hunters». It is not only a show about finding and purchasing vintage objects and antiques, but it is also a show about the history of Romania, told through these objects. I’m even more glad that the format of the «Treasure Hunters» show is a common Paprika-HISTORY format. I hope this will be the beginning of a long collaboration,” added Christophe Brackx, executive director of Paprika Studios Romania.
