Hobbs man arrested, accused of illegally selling automatic weapon conversion devices

HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) – A Hobbs man has been arrested for selling illegal automatic weapon conversion devices and a silencer. According to officials, undercover agents with the Lea County Drug Task Force purchased two Glock switches and a silencer from 22-year-old Tevon Wayne Davis Cobbs in Hobbs.

They say Cobbs admitted to selling the switches for the past three to four years and offered to install the switches for agents. They say he also offered to sell agents a suppressor. Officials said Cobbs sold them a switch in February.

Officials say Cobbs told them he has a steady supply of the devices but said it’s not known where he was getting them from. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is investigating the case.
