Innovative Startups to Receive Funding from European Institute of Innovation in Urban Mobility for Projects in Brasov

Iceberg+ and EIT Urban Mobility in partnership with Brașov City Hall and Metropolitan Association for the Sustainable Development of Brașov Public Transport officially announces the launch of the funding call from the “City RAPTOR 2024” program. The program aims to identify innovative solutions developed by startups and small businesses and innovative means in the field of urban mobility to respond to specific challenges the cities involved. One of the challenges launched for which a mobility solution is being sought urban is that of Brașov, for the improvement of urban logistics in the historical center of Brasov.

The challenge proposed by Brașov City Hall and the Metropolitan Association for The Sustainable Development of Brașov Public Transport aims to improve distribution goods in the historic center of Brașov to reduce congestion and air pollution. Startups and SMEs active in the field of urban mobility and technology, from all over European Union, will be able to propose concrete solutions within the City RAPTOR call based on innovative technologies to help solve this challenge. The selection will operated as a call for funding, with the best proposal receiving a budget non-refundable from the EIT Urban Mobility to implement in the municipality of Brașov the proposed solution at pilot project level.

Expected project outcomes for partners:

Reduce traffic volumes in city center: Targeting less than 800 vehicles per hour entering Mureșenilor Street during peak hours in May.
Enhance conditions for local food delivery and takeout services.
Decrease reliance on motorized vehicles for deliveries in central area.
Improve air quality: Decrease monthly hours exceeding maximum thresholds for PM 1.0 and PM 2.5.
Decrease noise pollution on Mureșenilor Street: From 70 decibels to 50 decibels.
