Kaiju No. 8 episode 1 recap
Kaiju No. 8 debuted on April 13, 2024, and was titled “The Man Who Became a Kaiju.” The episode starts with announcements across the Yokohama region about a Kaiju attack. Judging by people’s reactions, it seems as though such Kaiju attacks are common in the city.
Soon, the Third Division arrives and defeats the Kaiju, thereby establishing the defense force’s influence amongst people. The episode then introduces Kafka, who works in the cleaning team after every Kaiju attack. He meets Ichikawa, who starts working in the cleaning crew but dreams of joining the defense force.
It is then revealed that Kafka wanted to join the defense team but eventually gave up after he was rejected. Moreover, Mina Ashiro, the Third Division’s commander, was his close friend from childhood. Later, a Yoju attacks Kafka and Ichikawa, but they manage to be saved when Mina arrives and kills the Yoju.
As the two recover in the hospital, a small flying Kaiju enters Kafka’s mouth, and he undergoes a transformation. When Ichikawa looks at Kafka, he transforms into a humanoid, Kaiju, shocking both. Mina then receives a call about a Kaiju in the hospital, preparing herself to tackle the situation.
