“The Prince and Princess are both extremely touched by the kind messages from people in the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’s message,” a Kensington Palace spokesman said in a statement.
“They are extremely impressed by the warmth and support of the public and are grateful for the understanding with which their wish for privacy during this time has been received,” the statement added.
The statement is the last we will hear from the prince and princess for a while, the BBC reports.
Kate’s announcement on Friday dominated the front pages of British publications on Saturday, with messages of support mixed with criticism of those who have speculated on her health in recent weeks.
