[1] Officers respond to Sunport emergency landing due to unruly passenger – A plane was forced to make an emergency landing at the Sunport after a passenger tried opening a door midflight earlier this year. New video show the encounter police had with that passenger. The passenger is accused of trying to open the emergency door exit on an American Airlines flight from Albuquerque to Chicago. Video from inside shows passengers restraining the man midflight while the plane makes an emergency landing at the Sunport. From the statements he made to investigators, the man was seemingly suffering from a mental health episode.

[2] 18-year-old from Albuquerque arrested after Downtown crowd shooting – 18-year-old Zane Katzenberger was arrested after authorities claimed he shot into a crowd in downtown Albuquerque. According to police, officers heard multiple gunshots coming from 4th and Central a little after 1 a.m. Sunday. Officials claimed they found Katzenberger with a gun in his waistband. Video footage allegedly showed Katzenberger shooting at multiple people in a crowd before taking off. According to the criminal complaint, one person was taken to the hospital.

[3] Spotty showers and warmer temperatures as storm clears out – Tuesday morning is cold and drier than Monday. The storm has been moving out of the state, and light precipitation has ended in eastern New Mexico. Light snow showers will be possible at the higher peaks of the Sacramento Mountains. Showers will move southward, clearing this evening, and tonight will be dry. Temperatures will be warmer than Monday, but still cooler than normal. Winds will lighten up across the state, but the northeast highlands could still see wind gusts as high as 50 mph.

[4] Bird flu confirmed in eastern New Mexico dairy cows – A disease normally associated with birds has been found in some dairy cows in New Mexico. Experts believe this is the first time the disease has been found in cows. The New Mexico Livestock Board says they were first alerted of the virus three weeks ago, when it popped up in Texas. Now a heard rom Curry County has been confirmed to have the virus. Experts say the most consistent symptoms in cows that have bird flu is a drop in milk production and feed consumption. They say pasteurization of the milk of any affected cow kills the virus, and affected milk should never make it to store shelves anyway.

[5] Early Childhood Education and Care Department is looking for input – The state said as many as 30,000 New Mexico families qualify for free childcare, but they also know many people can’t access that service. Now, they’re hoping to get feedback from parents about what may be holding them back and what the state can do to improve. The survey should only take around 15 minutes, and those who fill it out will get a $5 gift card. The survey will be open for the next three weeks.
