Leeds’ automatic promotion hopes hit after goalless draw against Sunderland

Leeds dropped two potentially crucial points in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League after stuttering to a goalless draw with out-of-form Sunderland.

The Black Cats’ season is already over, with their playoff push long since evaporated. But Leeds knew victory here would move them top of the Championship, with Leicester losing at Millwall elsewhere on Tuesday evening and fellow promotion rivals, Ipswich, not playing until 24 hours later against Watford.
