Long Beach man arrested, suspected in burglaries in 5 cities in the region

LONG BEACH — A 48-year-old man suspected of committing a series of residential burglaries where he would knock on doors to see if no one was home has been arrested, the Long Beach Police Department announced Monday.

Detectives have been investigating at least 25 circumstances in which Long Beach resident David Silver allegedly posed as a salesman or service worker who would knock on the doors of residences and invade the premises when the homes were not being occupied, police said.

“When the victim (s) did not appear to be home, the suspect entered the victim’s home and stole jewelry, collectible coins, heirlooms, jewelry boxes and money,” the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement.

Long Beach Police Department Burglary and Drug Investigations Section detectives executed a search warrant on Friday in the 700 block of Alamitos Avenue, where they arrested, transferred, and booked Silver on suspicion of residential burglary at the Long Beach City Jail without bail.

Silver is suspected of burglaries in Long Beach, Glendale, Los Alamitos, Cerritos and Torrance, police said.

The Long Beach burglaries took place at the following locations:

— The 1200 block of Hackett Avenue on Aug. 1, 2023;

— The 3600 block of Ocana Avenue on Sept. 27, 2023;

— The 2800 block of San Vicente Avenue on Oct. 6, 2023;

— The 3900 block of San Anseline Avenue on Oct. 10, 2023;

— The 5200 block of Pageantry Street on Nov. 10, 2023;

— The 5200 block of Pageantry Street on Nov. 20, 2023;

— The 3100 block of Fidler Avenue on Nov. 20, 2023;

— The 3600 block of Charlemagne Avenue on Dec. 11, 2023;

— The 3600 block of Karen Avenue on Jan. 2;

— The 3800 block of Petaluma Avenue on Jan. 4;

— The 5300 block of Ebell Street on Jan. 26;

— The 5100 block of Peabody Street on Feb. 9;

— The 3200 block of Marna Avenue on Feb. 12;

— The 2600 block of Radnor Avenue on Feb. 22;

— The 5300 block of East 29th Street on Feb. 22;

— The 3100 block of Marber Avenue on Feb. 28;

— The 6100 block of East Belen Street on March 1;

— The 3600 block of Hackett Avenue on March 4;

— The 6800 block of El Salvador Street on March 5;

— The 3200 block of Kallin Avenue on March 13;

— The 6200 block of East Sixth Street on March 14;

— The 3800 block of Marwick Avenue on March 14;

— The 5500 block of Hanbury Street on March 14;

— The 5300 block of East 29th Street on March 22; and

— The 3100 block of Rutgers Avenue on March 26.
