Louis Tomlinson has addressed the rumours that he was once in a relationship with Harry Styles, calling the speculation “irritating” and “far too personal”.

Speaking to Brazilian outlet G1 recently, the singer was asked why some fans believe he was dating his former One Direction bandmate at one point during the group’s career (via Billboard).
‘Larries’ – a portmanteau of ‘Louis’ and ‘Harry’ – are 1D followers who think the pair were romantically involved in the past, or are still secretly a couple. Tomlinson reportedly banned the term ‘Larry’ from his Instagram in 2016.
“What’s tough is, I’ve realised – I realised this some years ago – there is nothing I can say,” he explained to G1. “There is nothing I can do to dispel the believers of that conspiracy.”
Tomlinson continued: “They are so intertwined with what they believe to be the truth now that they won’t actually see the truth for what it is.

“I’d be lying if I… it does irritate me a little bit, you know? But it is just kind of the nature of the job, I suppose. There are times where it gets far too personal within that whole space.”
He added: “I’ve got my son, Freddie, who’s the most important person in my life. Occasionally, it kind of broaches some stuff that’s really unfair.
“It kind of just is this thing that exists now – there’s nothing I can do about it, there’s nothing I can say about it to stop people from making up what they want to make up. So, so be it.”

In 2017, Styles explained that he had “never felt the need” to label his sexuality. He then said in 2022 that it was “outdated” to do so: “I’ve been really open with it with my friends, but that’s my personal experience; it’s mine.”
Last year, Tomlinson admitted that he felt some “envy” when Styles first started becoming successful as a solo artist.
Tomlinson is due to begin the South American leg of his ‘Faith In The Future’ world tour next month. His second studio album of the same name was released in 2022.
During an interview with NME around that time, the singer said he was “definitely” more comfortable in who he was as an artist compared to when he first started out as a solo musician.
“That has been a process and I think it’ll be an ever-evolving process as well,” he explained. “But I definitely feel really comfortable about just following my heart musically and seeing where it gets me.”
